I spent a long time on Battle Studies really thinking about intervals and movement and stuff, which is really hard to sing. It’s a lot easier to sing the stuff that comes naturally to where your voice would be, but at the end of it all, I think the record really breathes more because it’s just more open and let’s the vocal have more of the role. Because I never saw myself as a singer until…next year.
